Long Shadow Vintners Wooden Box Set 2012 – 6 Wines$345.00
This collectible pack includes 1 bottle each of the following 6 wines.
Founded in 2003 by Allen Shoup, Long Shadows Vintners was created to bring together some of the world’s finest winemakers with the bounty of quality Washington State grapes. A state of the art winery accommodates this diverse group of winemakers that includes Gilles Nicault, Randy Dunn, John Duval, Michel Rolland, and Philippe Melka. The Vintners Box is a collection of the wines, all made in Walla Walla, Washington. Mother Nature handed Columbia Valley winemakers a near perfect growing season in 2012. Early spring days were warm; April conditions were ideal, then temperatures cooled considerably in May and June before warming for the summer and remaining consistent throughout harvest. Small berries ripened perfectly, yielding wines loaded with intense flavor and rich, balanced tannins in the finished wine.

Chester|Kidder Cabernet Sauvignon Blend ’12 – Winemaker Gilles Nicault. Named for Allen Shoup’s mother, Elizabeth Chester, and his grandmother, Maggie Kidder. Gilles Nicault, Long Shadow’s director of winemaking and viticulture crafts this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. 30 months in French Oak develop supple and firm tannins on the palate, with intensity of ripe dark plum, blackberry, earth and sweet spice.
Feather Cabernet Sauvignon ’12 – Winemaker Randy Dunn. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the master, Randy Dunn. Randy established his reputation and honed his craft at Caymus Winery, before starting his own label. He brings his expertise of crafting elegant wines from Cabernet to Washington. Generous, but with appealing earth and sage on the nose, the wine opens up to a refined, supple mouthfeel with dark fruits and sweet herbs.
Pedestal Merlot Blend ’12 – Winemaker Michel Rolland. From one of the world’s most influential winemakers. Michel Rolland has a resume that says he’s done it all. Known for his former family estate in Pomerol, Château Le Bon Pasteur, Michel is also a celebrated oenologist and consultant for a large number of prestigious wineries. 22 months in French Oak, this wine gives us the perfect marriage of French style in the Pacific Northwest, black cherry, huckleberry, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and freshly roasted coffee.
Pirouette Bordeaux Blend ’12 – Winemaker Philippe Melka. Philippe has worked for the most notable names in wine, including Petrus, Haut Brion, Dominus, Bryant Family, Hundred Acre, Quintessa, and others. This classic Left Bank blend based on hand harvested Cabernet Sauvignon sees 22 months in French Oak barrels before bottling. Rich flavors of cassis, toasted walnuts, dark chocolate, and fresh rosemary.
Saggi Sangiovese Blend ’12 – Winemakers Ambrogio & Giovanni Folonari. A Super Tuscan style blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Father and son from one of Tuscany’s oldest and most prestigious winemaking families teamed with Allen Shoup to create Saggi, meaning “Wisdom”. 18 months in French Oak round out the palate. Vibrant and lively, with the red cherry and current of Sangiovese, finished with nutmeg and sweet spices.
Sequel Syrah ’12 – Winemaker John Duval. As the winemaker for his eponymous winery John Duval, and previously working 28 years at Penfolds Grange, few winemakers’ names are as synonymous with a single varietal as John Duval is with Syrah. Supple and balanced, with aromatic cassis, smoked meats, blueberry, and pepper laced licorice.
