USQ I The New California: Reds Beyond Pinot Noir & Cabernet

13 E. 13th Street, New York 10003

We love a great Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, and plush Napa Cabernet, but California has so much more to offer lovers of red wine than just these two popular styles. In this class, we’ll focus on exciting grape varieties that the state can offer, at every palate and price point. We’ll discuss the history of wine in California, the rise and fall of interest in particular grape varieties (Merlot! Zinfandel!), and how serious winemakers are seeking out sites planted pre-phylloxera and prohibition to craft elegant, thoughtful wines with history. Be ready for a lesson that could include grapes such as Trousseau, Valdigué, Corvina, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Dolcetto and others. 6 wines will be tasted as we discuss, history, typicity, appellation laws and more. Chef curated cheese boards will be provided.

Once your class session has ended, we'd love for you to stay and dine afterwards! All class attendees will receive 10% off their meal. If you'd like to make a reservation, send an email to orders@corkbuzz.com or call us at 646-873-6071
