Union Square | Wine & Food Pairing: Munchies

13 E. 13th Street, New York, NY 10003

When you dine at a Michelin starred restaurant with a tasting menu and wine pairing, or when you try that perfect piece of chocolate with a specific wine at your last winery visit, you might be left to feel that only sommeliers, chefs, and winemakers are in on the magic of food and wine pairing. The truth is, food and wine were meant to go together, and just like you trust your instinct on adding more salt, less sugar, or a squeeze of lemon when cooking or baking, understanding the basic components of food and wine, and trusting your instincts, can take you a long way. We'll look at the basics, and rules for everyday food and wine pairing, and especially when and how to break them.

We're breaking all the rules and skipping the high brow pairings in this class by focusing on easy parings to enjoy from the couch, "munchie" pairings if you will. Expect to learn about pairing snacks like popcorn, potato chips, beef jerky, and easy weeknight dinners like pizza, hot dogs, and boxed mac n cheese. We can't forget about miniature candy bars, cookies, and ice cream we enjoy when lounging around. Some examples may be provided, but this will not encompass a full food pairing, but will explore the concepts of how to pair food and wine.

Join us at the bar for a glass of wine and dinner the day of class and receive 10% off your check.

Live wine classes are led by Corkbuzz Sommeliers and last 90 minutes. Class includes 6 (2 ounce) pours of wine, printed materials, and complimentary cheese. Guests will be seated at communal tables. Please refrain from wearing heavy fragrances to class.
