Union Square | Super Tuscan Roadshow

13 E. 13th Street, New York 10003

Tuscany is one of the most famous wine regions in the world, and for good reason. This notable region in Central Italy is home to Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile de Montepulciano, Bolgheri, and more. But in the 1960s, a few producers were unhappy with the laws governing how they had to make their wines, and began declassifying their bottles, some 100% Sangiovese under "fantasy" names like La Pergola Torte, Ceparello, and Fontalloro, or wines made with international grape varieties like Sassicaia, Tignanello, Scrio, Masseto, Maestro Raro, Vigorello, and more. We’ll cover the history of the region, the events let led to the rise of these styles, geology and climate, appellations and classifications, and vintages. While we won't necessarily be tasting these wines from the Super Tuscan stalwarts, we'll learn about them as we taste 6 examples of our favorite Super Tuscan wines. All wines for this class will be red.

Join us at the bar for a glass of wine before or after class and receive 10% off your check that day.
