Union Square | French Holiday: Provence & Corsica

13 E. 13th Street, New York 10003

The beautiful Mediterranean island of Corsica, settled between the southeast coast of Provence and the west coast of Tuscany, unsurprisingly invites a collision of influences from both French and Italian winemaking. Despite being closer to Italy than it is to France, Corsica has been under French rule since 1769. The coastal region of Provence is known as the place that winemaking 1st started in France, but although the region has recently become known for its delicate rosés, a wealth of red and white blends come from the region as well. In this class, we'll dive deep into these two Mediterranean regions, discussing history, wine law, varietals, geography, geology, winemaking techniques, and top producers. We'll taste 6 examples of these wines served with cheese.
