Union Square | Burgundy Spotlight: Gevrey-Chambertin
April 4 2023 | 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM13 E. 13th Street, New York 10003
Located in the Côte de Nuits, the village of Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest wine producing village in the Côte d'Or. Producing wines only from Pinot Noir that are often described as deeper in color, firmer in body, and more tannic in structure than most red Burgundy, the village marks the northern terminus of the Côte de Nuits swath of Grand Cru vineyards, with 9 in Gevrey-Chambertin itself. We'll be delving into the history, law, and individual parcels of land that make the wines of Gevrey-Chambertin so special amongst collectors and enthusiasts. Expect a deep focus on lieu-dits, climats, Premier Cru vineyards, Grand Cru vineyards, and the most iconic (and some lesser known- but need to know) producers. Featured wines will be posted approximately two weeks ahead of class, wine are subject to change based on availability.
It can be helpful to have an overall understanding of the region prior to class. You can watch our Burgundy Basics class recording to prepare.
We'd love to see you after class! Join us at the bar for a glass of wine and dinner before or after class and receive 10% off your check that day.
Live wine classes are led by Corkbuzz Sommeliers and last 90 minutes. Class includes 6 (2 ounce) pours of wine, printed materials, and complimentary cheese. Guests will be seated at communal tables.
