Online | Regional Profile: Barossa

Australia has the largest selection of old-vine material in the world. Scattered across the country in the most renowned wine regions, these vines have been nurtured for generations and are the basis for many memorable wines. These old vine sites have a unique combination of geology, terroir, and generations of dedicated families who have long cultivated and cared for them. Barossa's history of vine growing dates back to 1842, and is one of the most historic wine producing regions in Australia. While many 6th generation family's shepherd these historic old vines vineyards of Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, these stalwarts have also been joined by a new wave of Mediterranean grape varieties, encompassing the free and entrepreneurial spirit of the region. We're doing a deep dive, exploring the history, families, grape varieties, and single vineyards this world renowned region has to offer.
