Long considered the value Chardonnay of Burgundy, a quiet revolution has been taking place in the vineyards of the Mâcon. This predominantly white wine region has been attracting its famous neighbors from the Golden Slope of the north, names like Leflaive, Lafon, Boillot, Ramonet, Bichot, Jadot, Drouhin and more. These are producers who's wines have become so exorbitantly expensive further north, that they're looking for areas to offer value and quality wine to consumers. Their efforts were recognized in 2020, with the recognition of 22 Premier Cru sites. We'll explore the Mâcon, its history, vineyards, classification, grapes, and iconic producers serving up top notch Burgundy at value prices.
