Corkbuzz Online | WOW: Central & Southern Italy

Part of WOW: World of Wine Intensive. The full series can be purchased here.

Tuscany is Central Italy’s most historic and well-known area of wine production, but the surrounding regions also offer a wealth of food and budget-friendly wine styles crafted from indigenous grapes, and perfect for a feast recreating the local fare. Sangiovese is King in Tuscany, but lesser-known grapes like Albana, Grechetto, Verdicchio, Pecorino, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco Sorbara, Montepulciano, Lacrima, and Sagrantino (just to name a few!) are grown throughout the regions. Southern Italy has been making wines for thousands of years, and is likely where grapevines were first brought into the country. Come learn about what makes regions like Puglia, Calabria, Basilicata, Campania, and Lazio so interesting and unique in the landscape of Italy's wine production. We will cover the history of these regions, geology and climate, appellations, grapes, wine-making practices, and vintages.

Zoom links will be sent via email on the morning of the class. Follow-up notes are sent the following day.
