June 2013 Wine Club Wines
Each wine comes with a suggested pairing from Laura, though every wine was also selected for its versatility and freshness, sure to be delicious on whatever occasions the season may bring. Order an extra shipment and have it sent directly to your summer home!
There’s the light-bodied Beaujolais that Laura loves to bring to the beach house thanks to its crowd-pleasing and easy-drinking nature (“I love serving it with a slight chill!” she says), and the Vinho Verde from Portugal that she calls “perfectly refreshing and ideal for the poolside or bringing on a boat.”
If you’re headed on a picnic, the still rosé from Sonoma will pair as well with sandwich fixings as it will straight sunshine. And for dinner, one of Laura’s favorite summer meals is a classic, Cape Cod-style clambake, which she loves to pair with a bright and briny Assyrtiko from the island of Santorini in Greece. “The wine has notes of salt, smoke and lemon that are an ideal match for this preparation of fresh seafood.”
For requisite summer barbecues, Laura picked out an all-American Zinfandel: “Zinfandel is ideal with barbecue because the bold, sweet-spicy fruit complements those similar flavors of the grilled meat, and this one has great acidity that keeps it feeling fresh.” Finally, for nights spent winding down around the campfire, Laura likes to enjoy the fittingly dark, earthy and peppery Teroldego from the Trentino region in northern Italy.

Master Sommelier Laura Maniec picks each bottle and gives you personal tasting notes, videos and podcasts about the wines.
