Laura Maniec is one of 33 females in the world to achieve the title, Master Sommelier. Laura is the owner of Corkbuzz Restaurant and Wine Bar which has locations in Union Square & Chelsea Market, New York.
Laura launched Corkbuzz Wine Studios in November 2011 offering a full service restaurant where wine is the focus. She also teaches wine classes, hosts events and private classes for companies and individuals. She customizes each event to connect the clients, winemakers, wine, and sommeliers so the spirit of wine entertainment and education is achieved. Food & Wine Magazine, Business Insider and Amex Essentials named Corkbuzz Wine Studio as the best place for wine classes.
Laura says “Wine is about bringing people together to share passions of history, geography, culture, language, travel and passions. We can look to wine in hard times to lift our spirits”.
Maniec’s fresh approach to wine has made Corkbuzz a destination for expert and novice drinkers alike and earned her recognition as both a sommelier and entrepreneur. She directs every aspect of her businesses from scouting locations to design, development and construction and all the way to marketing, mentoring and teaching wine classes. Since opening Corkbuzz, The Wall Street Journal called Laura the “It Girl” of the New York wine scene, Crain’s New York Businesshonored her as one of their “40 Under 40,” Food & Wine Magazine named her one of 2013’s “Sommeliers of the Year” and Wine Enthusiast included her in their list of “Top 40 Tastemakers under 40.” She is currently studying for her Master of Wine Diploma, is a member of Les Dames d’ Escoffier and NY Restaurant Association.
Laura consults for many of the top hotels, restaurants, financial services companies and private equity firms in wine entertaining and loves to spread her knowledge of wine throughout the world. She builds communities connecting winemakers, sommeliers and wine enthusiasts through her restaurants, retail store, classes and events.
